Description
Dentsply Palodent Matrix System Refills are components that can be used to replenish or replace the individual elements of the Palodent Plus or Palodent V3 Sectional Matrix Systems. These refills include rings, matrices, wedges, WedgeGuards, forceps, and pin tweezers. The rings in the Palodent Matrix System Refills are designed to provide optimal separation and stability during the restorative procedure. They help create a tight marginal seal and assist in contouring the restorative material. Matrices are thin, flexible strips that are used to recreate the natural contours of the tooth. They are placed between the teeth to form a temporary wall, allowing for the accurate placement of restorative materials. Wedges are small triangular wedges made of either wood or elastomeric material. They are used to create space between the teeth, providing better access for the placement of the matrix and restorative material. Wedges also contribute to creating tight contacts between the teeth. WedgeGuards are innovative devices that combine the benefits of wedges and matrix retainers. They provide optimal separation and stabilization while also protecting the adjacent tooth surface. Forceps and pin tweezers are tools used for the easy placement and removal of the matrix system components. They ensure precise handling and control during the procedure.
Key Specifications

- Compresses on entry and flares upon exit for easy placement and seal
- Hollow underside allows placement of second wedge from opposite side
Forceps
- Locking function and angled grip arms hold the ring securely both mesially and distally
- Handy built-in grooves for resetting rings
Pin Tweezers
- Â Pin-in tip positively grips the hole in matrices, wedges and WedgeGuards for full control
- Â Naturally closed position minimises risk of dropping the matrix band, wedge or WedgeGuard
- Â Handy ball burnisher built into tip
Universal Ring
- Light Blue Colour
- Nickel-titanium for outstanding spring strength, memory and consistent separation force
- Stackable for versatility
- Glass-fiber reinforced plastic tines are v-shaped to accommodate the wedge
Narrow Ring
- Dark Blue Colour
- Same innovative features and benefits as the Universal Ring
- Tines set closer together for optimal separation of smaller teeth
- Up to 4kgs of separating force, even on premolars
Matrices (5 sizes)
- Pronounced marginal ridge for ideal anatomy
- Significantly greater curvature on horizontal plane as matrix wraps around tooth
- Gingival apron is optimally shaped to significantly prevent gaps in gingival-axial corner
EZ Coat matrices (5 sizes)
- The Palodent V3 EZ Coat matrices retain all the innovative features and benefits of Palodent V3 matrices but come with the added bonus of a micro-thin, non-stick finish that makes matrix removal even easier
- Greater matrix curvature that helps improve the anatomical accuracy of the restoration
- Five colour-coded sizes as refills
Wedge Guards (3 sizes)
- Facilitates faster and easier cutting of cavity and lowers risk of interproximal damage to adjacent tooth
- Guard detached after preparation, leaving the wedge in place

Direction to Use
- Ring Placement:
1. Select the appropriate size ring based on the tooth being restored.
2. Place the ring around the tooth, ensuring a snug fit.
3. Ensure the ring is fully engaged and securely positioned to provide optimal separation and stability. - Matrix Placement:
1. Choose a matrix strip that matches the desired tooth contour.
2. Insert the matrix strip into the ring, positioning it along the gingival margin.
3. Ensure the matrix strip extends beyond the restoration area for proper adaptation and contouring of the restorative material.
4. Secure the matrix strip in place using the built-in retention tabs on the ring. - Wedge Placement:
1. Select a suitable wedge based on the space required and the tooth anatomy.
2. Insert the wedge into the interproximal space, opposite to the matrix strip.
3. Ensure the wedge creates gentle but firm separation between the teeth, allowing for proper matrix adaptation and restorative material placement.
4. Adjust the wedge if necessary to achieve ideal separation and contact point stability. - WedgeGuard Placement (if applicable):
1. If using WedgeGuards, position them between the wedge and the adjacent tooth surface.
2. Ensure the WedgeGuards provide optimal separation and stabilization while also protecting the adjacent tooth surface. - Restorative Procedure:
1. Follow the specific restorative procedure recommended by your dental professional.
2 Use the matrix system components to create a tight marginal seal, accurately place the restorative material, and contour it as desired.
3. Adjust the components as needed throughout the procedure for optimal performance and results. - Component Removal:
1. Use forceps or pin tweezers to carefully remove the matrix system components after the restorative procedure is complete.
2. Exercise caution to avoid damaging the tooth or surrounding structures.
3. Dispose of used components appropriately according to local regulations.
